Your phone hasn’t stopped ringing, you have multiple deadlines to meet, meetings to attend and you can’t catch your breath. You’re starting to panic about how you’re going to get everything done in time, you’re overwhelmed you can’t take in a full breath as you’re so stressed.

High levels of stress can put your entire well-being at risk. It can put immense pressure on your physical and mental health narrowing your ability to focus, function effectively, and enjoy life.

You’re not alone. According to a survey commissioned by the Mental Health Foundation, 74% of UK adults have claimed to be stressed, overwhelmed and unable to cope at some point in the last year (2018).

What is stress?
In a nutshell, stress is a psychological response to external and internal stimuli. It’s a completely natural of mind and we’re hardwired to experience stress. Issues arise when stress is activated more frequently and when we experience stress for longer periods of time.

What’s happening to me?
When you undergo frequent and/or consistent stress your body’s fight or fight response kicks in. Your body thinks it’s under attack and your hormones change significantly. Your adrenaline and catecholamine’s (stress hormones) increase and when they’re experienced at these high levels for long periods of time it can affect your body in a very negative way. Blood pressure rises, you may get headaches, insomnia, lack of focus and motivation and overall performance reduces significantly.

Why can’t I switch off?
Once your body gets in to a fight or flight mode it can be very difficult to get out of it. It becomes easier to worry, to dwell on negative thoughts and our thinking patterns become skewed and any single stressful event takes over our thinking once again fueling the fight or flight response and the cycle continues.

Managing your stress levels will help you to break the hold stress has on your life. You can take control back, you can be happier, healthier, and more far more productive. The ultimate goal is to achieve a balanced life, with time for work, relationships and relaxation as well as the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

How do I manage my stress levels?
Hypnotherapy can help you to manage your stress levels quickly, deeply and permanently. By accessing your subconscious mind in a state of hypnotherapy you will be able to gain control of those negative thinking patterns, break the cycle of stress and calm your whole nervous system down. Your amygdala (your fight or flight part of the brain) will reduce in size and you can finally start to relax, make better decisions and become much more focused again. Your mental and physical health will improve and you’ll no longer feel the crippling effects of stress.

What about the next time I feel stressed?

The amazing side effect of listening to our MindTALKS frequently is that you’re training your brain to not even get in to that stressed zone in the first place. So the next time you’re faced with a stressful situation, instead of those fight or flight feelings being triggered and feeling negative, panicky and overwhelmed, you manage the situation much more calmly and rationally.

How does hypnotherapy work?

We hold negative thoughts in our subconscious minds and our negative reactions to a stressful event are therefore automatic which in turn amplifies stress even more. Through hypnotherapy, we can train the mind to recognize these negative thinking patterns and to instead create new ways of thinking when faced with a stress induced situation.

When in a state of hypnosis, your whole system including your mind and body are able to relax. Any information goes straight in to the subconscious where all your permanent thoughts and beliefs lie meaning we are able to reprogram our minds. House of Wellbeing’s MindTALKS not only flood your subconscious with positive thinking patterns but also help to reframe the way you interpret stress and release negative thoughts thereby calming the mind and empowering your sense of confidence.

Does Hypnotherapy really work?

There are many studies that show just how effective hypnotherapy is on stress and we have our own results to shout about too. 87% of people who have listened to our MindTALKS on stress have found that after listening to the audios, they felt much calmer, more relaxed, more focused and much more able to cope.
